Recently Stocked Walleye Lakes in Minnesota

972 lakes with a walleye stocking record from 2024 or later

About this list

Every lake here has a walleye stocking record from 2024 or later — the current year plus the 2 before it. Records are reported by year, not by date, and include stocking by state hatcheries as well as tribal bands, federal hatcheries, and local sporting groups. Each card shows the size class and number of walleyefrom the lake's most recent stocking year.

This is a factual recency list, not a ranking, and there is no minimum lake size to qualify. For graded walleye water, see the best walleye lakes in Minnesota, or go back to all recently stocked lakes.

Recently stocked walleye lakes by county

Showing 200 of 972 lakes, grouped by county and most recently stocked first — including 40 slots reserved for lakes 100 acres or under, or of unrecorded size, which a plain size-weighted cut would otherwise crowd out. Open a lake for its full stocking history.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Minnesota lakes have been stocked with walleye since 2024?

972 Minnesota lakes have a walleye stocking record from 2024 or later; this page shows 200 of them, grouped by county. Records are reported by year and published after the fact, so a lake stocked this season may not appear until the state publishes it.

What counts as "recently stocked" with walleye?

A lake is listed when its most recent walleye stocking record falls in 2024 or later — the current year plus the 2 before it. The window slides forward every January, so a lake drops off once its last walleye stocking passes 2 years old. There is no minimum lake size: small stocked ponds qualify.

Does stocking mean a lake is good for walleye fishing?

Not on its own. A stocking record says how many fish went in, not how many survived or how the fishing is now. Size matters more than the count: yearlings can be caught the season they go in, while fingerlings and fry take years to reach a useful size. For graded walleye lakes, see the FishGrade Walleye rankings, which are built from Minnesota DNR survey catch rates rather than stocking.
