Quarterline is a small (21 acre), bog stained lake located on the Kabetogama Peninsula within the interior of Voyaguers National Park. Quarterline Lake is only accessible via portage trails; the shortest commensing in Lost Bay of Kabetogama Lake. The lake has a maximum depth of 22.0 feet and, except for the bog in the north bay, the shoreline drops-off quickly. The Park maintains a campsite where the portage trail reaches the lake. The fish community of Quarterline Lake is simple. Northern pike , yellow perch and largemouth bass were the only species caught during the 2007 investigation. Northern pike were abundant in the gillnet catch (11.0 per net) but the average size was small (17.7 inches). No pike over 21 inches were present. Yellow perch abundance (4.50 per net) was typical for lakes like Quarterline however, the average size was large (11.1 inches). Eighty-three percent of the perch caught during this investigation exceeded ten inches in length. All perch obseved were infested with yellow grub, a parasite common in northern Minnesota. Largemouth bass were also documented in Quarterline Lake during this survey and may offer the best fishing opportunities in this lake.
